New adventure. Do you love Spring time as much as I do? Everything comes alive after Winter. It’s time to plant the garden and new trees. The plants that held dormant through the cold burst open with new blossoms. Chicks are hatching, lambing season starts. All of the young new life, and there is a newfound hope and energy in the air. I want to get out and do something! We feel so productive with little bit of cabin fever.
It is a great time of year to start a new adventure. My new adventure is going to be blogging about our farm life!
Welcome to Desolate Homestead
That sounds so fitting, right? Being in the Arizona Desert, we are battling harsh dry conditions. Our property does have water rights (irrigation), but the previous owner hadn’t kept up with it at all. We came to see it for the first time in the middle of July (it was 115 degrees out), and the place was covered in tumble weeds. Desolate is the best word to describe what we saw. We also know what a lot of love and work can do for the land, and we are willing to work at it.
I am so excited to start a blog to share our homestead journey. We love everything about this farm life. The hard work, the animals, the dirt, and connecting with nature. Here I will share everything, more than just short posts on Facebook (follow my Facebook page here). I want to share my favorite recipes, new skills we have learned, livestock birthing stories, the good times and the bad, and even give you a glimpse of why we do what we do.
Our kids run wild at our place, and they will make an appearance here or there. Maybe a few homeschooling posts? We will see where we end up. I am excited to have a new outlet, and I hope you are ready to watch us on this journey too!
